What happens during a home eye test?
We bring all the equipment to your home. The test takes about 30-40 minutes and includes checking your vision, eye pressure, and the health of your eyes. It's exactly the same quality as a high-street test, just more comfortable.
Is there really no cost for an NHS home eye test?
If you meet the NHS eligibility criteria, the eye examination is completely free. If you need new glasses, you may also be eligible for an NHS optical voucher towards the cost.
What if I'm not sure I qualify?
Just give us a ring and we'll help you work it out. There's absolutely no obligation. If you don't qualify for NHS funding, we also offer affordable private home eye tests.
Do you visit care homes?
Yes, we have partnerships with care homes across Essex. All care home residents qualify for free NHS home eye tests. We can set up regular scheduled visits for your home.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree, Witham, Maldon, Tiptree, Halstead, Sudbury, Clacton, Southend, Basildon, Brentwood, and surrounding areas across Essex.
Can you test someone with dementia?
Absolutely. We use specialist techniques that don't require verbal responses, so we can accurately assess vision even for patients with advanced dementia. Read our guide on dementia and eye care for more information.
