Planning Eye Care Visits for a Care Home

Templeman Opticians Essex · Updated 20 October 2026

Begin with the home and the coordinator

For an initial discussion, give the care home name, town, a contact person and an approximate number of residents whose arrangements need discussing. Do not email a resident list or private health information through the public enquiry form.

Agree what a scheduled visit includes

Ask the practice how testing days, individual appointments and follow-up will be organised. Agree how residents and their representatives will be involved and how any required consent and individual funding checks will be handled.

Make the responsibilities clear

Discuss who coordinates access, which information the practice needs, how glasses fitting or repairs are arranged and who staff should contact between visits. Ask for the agreed service, records and charges to be set out in writing.

Compare an existing service fairly

If you are considering a change, check the actual terms and availability of your current service directly. Providers and arrangements vary; this guide does not make claims about another provider's testing policy or response times.

Request a discussion

Use the care home service page and printable information pack as starting points, then call 01268 777729 to confirm the current proposal for your home.
