NHS Optical Vouchers: Checking Entitlement and Current Values
Check the current official values
The NHS voucher values page lists the current bands and amounts. Use that source rather than an older price table or chart. The practice can explain which voucher applies after the relevant assessment.
A free test and help with glasses are separate
Eligibility for a free sight test does not automatically mean an optical voucher is available. Check the NHS entitlement guidance or ask the practice to explain your position.
Before choosing glasses
Ask which frames and lenses are covered by the available voucher and whether your preferred choice has any additional cost. Confirm the total, fitting arrangements and any separate charges before ordering.
Arranging help at home
Our glasses and lenses page explains the existing home-selection and fitting service. When enquiring, say whether you need a sight test, glasses following a recent prescription or help with a repair.
Ask the practice
Call 01268 777729 to discuss entitlement and the current options. Avoid sending prescription images, benefit documents or other private records through the public enquiry form.
Official guidance checked 20 October 2026: NHS sight tests, optical vouchers and mobile visits. The practice confirms the arrangements for the individual patient.
